The Challenge
Utility-scale solar projects require robust, compliant HV infrastructure that can be delivered to tight programme constraints while meeting exacting quality and safety standards. The Tolldish Hall Farm Solar project demanded a substation solution capable of integrating advanced HV switchgear, while ensuring reliability, efficiency, and seamless installation on site.
B&S Group Solution
B&S Group was appointed to deliver a fully engineered HV substation enclosure, designed and fabricated in-house to meet project-specific technical and environmental requirements.
The scope of works included:
-
Full design and fabrication of the HV substation enclosure
-
Auxiliary electrical installation and full fit-out
-
Integration of free-issued HV switchgear, supplied and commissioned by Ormazabal
-
Delivery, offloading, and placement on site, ensuring readiness for final commissioning
By managing design, fabrication, and integration under one delivery model, B&S Group ensured quality control, reduced installation risk, and supported efficient project execution.
Outcome
Once operational, the Tolldish Hall Farm Solar site will generate up to 25 MW of renewable electricity — enough to power approximately 7,000 homes. The delivered substation provides a reliable and high-performance grid interface, supporting long-term operational stability and compliance.
This project further reinforces B&S Group’s role in enabling the UK’s renewable energy transition through the delivery of engineered power infrastructure built for performance, safety, and longevity.
