B&S Group is proud to start 2026 with a pivotal milestone at the Hams Hall Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project — one of Europe’s largest grid-scale storage assets.
Recently, the B&S team delivered and installed the first of two high-voltage switchgear substations on site for our client Ormazabal. This installation forms a critical part of the 400 MW / ~1 GWh storage facility designed to support grid flexibility and accelerate the UK’s transition to net zero. The second substation delivery — a suite of control substation units for client Energy-io — will follow shortly.
Once complete, the Hams Hall project will have the capacity to serve the equivalent daily needs of approximately 135,000 homes, enhancing energy resilience and helping balance renewable generation with grid demand.
“We’re proud to work alongside Ormazabal and Energy-io on a project that truly demonstrates the future of energy infrastructure in the UK,” said the B&S Group leadership team. “The BESS deployment at Hams Hall will provide vital flexibility and stability for the grid as renewable penetration grows.”
This achievement underlines B&S Group’s ongoing role in delivering engineered power solutions for critical energy storage infrastructure across the UK.
