The Challenge
Delivering critical power infrastructure within an active zoological environment presents unique challenges. The project demanded:
-
Multiple substations with differing voltage requirements
-
Seamless integration of HV and LV systems
-
Strict controls around noise, access, and installation impact
-
·Careful planning to avoid disruption to animals, staff, and visitors
All works needed to be delivered as a fully coordinated turnkey solution, with safety, reliability, and environmental sensitivity at the forefront.

B&S Group was appointed to design and deliver a comprehensive, multi-substation turnkey package, tailored to the operational needs of the new Heart of Africa zone.
The scope of works includes:
-
Incoming substation featuring:
o 7-panel Schneider Electric Genie EVO switchgear
o Dedicated LV control room
-
LV substation comprising:
o B&S Group–manufactured Form 4, Type 6 switchgear panels
o Connection via interlinking room to an 11kV / 433V transformer
-
Client intermediate substation incorporating:
